New Orleans Oyster Sandwich Class

July 29 @ 1:00 pm 3:30 pm

In this New Orleans cooking class, students will learn how to prepare a classic Louisiana oyster sandwich (oyster po’boy) served with fresh homemade coleslaw and finish with the iconic New Orleans dessert, Bananas Foster.

The class begins with seasoning and frying PNW oysters to create a crispy, flavorful po’boy served on traditional French bread with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and remoulade sauce. Students will also prepare a creamy Southern-style coleslaw that complements the sandwich.

For dessert, the class features Bananas Foster, where students learn the traditional flambé technique using bananas, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and rum, served over vanilla ice cream.

Throughout the session, students explore the history and culture of New Orleans cuisine, including the origins of the po’boy and the famous Bananas Foster dessert. The class is hands-on, interactive, and designed for all skill levels, making it perfect for anyone interested in Cajun and Creole cooking traditions.
